Swimsuit Elastic

We have expanded our swimsuit elastic collection by adding 1″ wide and 1.5″ wide white and black swimsuit elastic!  Not always easy to find sold by the yard, our swimsuit elastic has a soft, cotton feel to it not a rubber feel to it.  The content is Polyester 65%/Ratex Rubber 35%.  As more and more people find and like our swimsuit elastic, we will continue to expand the sizing and colors!  Enjoy!

I am so excited to share with you that we are now carrying downloadable sewing patterns from Modkid by Patty Young!  If you haven’t tried PDF patterns before, I highly encourage you to try!  Once you do, you’ll be hooked at how easy and convenient they are.  And here at TFF, you can always access the patterns you purchase from your customer account.  Simply log in here and then once at your customer dashboard, on the left hand side of the screen you click on “My Downloadable Products” and every pattern you have ever ordered is there!  Easy peasy!

Wholesale is now By the Bolt

We have made a slight change to our wholesale program here at The Fabric Fairy.  Before we would invoice you for shipping cost after your order was cut and weighed.  This was met with confusion by some customers because we heavily advertise our free shipping over $125 for domestic retail orders.  So now instead of “wholesale bolts” we offer By the Bolt.  It is basically the same thing; you can order an entire bolt at a discounted price but now our flat rate shipping applies!  Easy peasy, no additional invoicing required.  Happy Shopping!

Choose Joy Donation Day Success!

Our first of many donation days (I hope) was a success!  On Sunday, February 26th we had our “Choose Joy Donation Day” benefiting Ashley of Lil Blue Boo.  I am so pleased to let you all know that we raised $100 through sales and with The Fabric Fairy’s pledge to match, we donated a total of $200 today to the Choose Joy Auction and Benefit.  The auction itself started this evening and I urge you all to browse and bid on all the wonderful handmade items and services that have been donated.

I hope that all of you that ordered enjoy your Choose Joy bracelets included in your orders.  I wear mine everyday and it reminds me to not take that day for granted.  Our time is limited on this earth and sometimes slowing down to enjoy a brief moment of joy can simply rejuvenate the soul.

Special Order Fabric

For those of you who aren’t aware, we have a special section on the site dedicated to Special Order Fabric here at The Fabric Fairy!  Basically, these are fabrics that are available to me but just not here at my “warehouse” so to speak.  :)  There is a 5 yard minimum if you want to purchase a special order fabric, and I typically am ordering 2-3 times a month so I can get the fabrics in a timely fashion.  Now, I am sure there are a lot of you out there that don’t need 5 yards of one print but are dying for something in this section.  Let me know!!  Email me!  I keep a running “wishlist” with your name, email, and the fabric you are wanting and as soon as I have 2-3 people interested, I order it and I let you know it is on it’s way.  Never hesitate to email me to ask if I can find a specific knit fabric or ask if I can refill your favorite!  I am always wanting to know what you want.

Speaking of fabrics that you want…I have 3 boxes of fabric arriving this week filled to the brim with a mix of half refills from the special order section and half NEW that I can’t wait to share with you!  You can see the ones that are being refilled here.  They are being pre-sold on the site now!

Hello!  My name is Megan and I am the new owner of The Fabric Fairy!  I thought that an introduction would be appropriate to give you all a bit of info about me.  :)

First and foremost, I am a wife and mom!  I have been married 13 years to my husband Seth and we have 3 children ages 9, 5, and 3.

I have a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and professional photography experience.  I learned to sew the basics in high school home education classes but then after I had children I started sewing again.  I am more or less self-taught with guidance from my mom and internet forum’s.  I was a stay-at-home mom when I found my job at The Fabric Fairy 3 years ago and was instantly enthralled with the whole process of an internet business selling fabric!  I started off doing inventory, all the fabric listings, and taking all the photos.  Eventually my responsibilities increased and well…you all know how the story ended…or rather now how it has begun.

In preparation for re-opening The Fabric Fairy, I have made a few changes.  Nothing major really, but one thing you all may notice is that we still have a lot of the same inventory that The Fabric Fairy had before with a couple new fabrics and plenty more on the way.  If there is something that you are looking for, don’t hesitate to email me!  I LOVE hearing from you and LOVE being able to supply you with what you want!

As a thank you for being my customer, check out this free downloadable jazz shorts pattern from the blog of my new friend Caroline Critchfield at Carolina Fair Designs!

All of Caroline’s pdf sewing patterns are easy to follow with pictures for each step. Each design is focused on basic elements so you can add your own personality!  Best of all, a lot of her patterns feature KNITS!!  Enjoy!!

Take Care…..Meg  :)

The winner of our $100 shopping spree drawing for customers who posted about our new site is………………Christine Hansen!!!  (can you hear the thunderous applause, Christine?)

Second, congratulations to Heather Gillibrand for being the first person to spot all of the uses of Fairycare on our new site.  An honorary prize goes to Judith Kowalewski for being the only person to actually calculate out the exact number of times the words can appear, based on the number of products we stock and uses per product view.  You will each receive a $20 gift certficate to buy fluff at The Fabric Fairy!!  Happily, we have noticed a ton of people making use of our free Fairycare services since we launched, and we’ve been enjoying working with them and helping them out.  If you’ve been debating contacting us, please don’t be shy! ;-)

We have another contest coming up soon, but are still putting some things together for it…this one will involve creativity!

We’ve gotten a barrage of positive feedback about our new site, which absolutely thrills us.  Seriously, thank you.  We’ve been working so hard to try to incorporate all of the feedback we’ve gotten about what your dream fabric website would look like, what features and improved technology  you would want to see, and how we could improve the feel and ease of use of The Fabric Fairy’s website.  It’s nice to know that we got it right. :)
